"The rich traditions of the church."

Although Heavenly Rest has failed us so miserably, all is not lost on the Upper East Side.

The rector, churchwardens, vestry, and people—to say nothing of the music staff—of St. James on Madison Avenue are doing their bit and doing it mightily. With apologies for the glare in the photo, see what sits in the announcement board at 71st and Madison. If you can’t read it, the text is below:

Join us for worship at 11:15 am
following the rich traditions of the church
Holy Eucharist Rite I or Morning Prayer
with sermon, hymns,
and anthems by the St. James Compostela Choir

St. James gets it right on so many counts.
• “the rich traditions of the church”
• Rite I
• Morning Prayer every other Sunday
• the all-professional choir
• their tremendous new organ

Solid.

St. James Church, among her neighbors.

Inside.

At Christmas.

Do you know of any parishes where the old pattern of Morning Prayer, Litany, and Holy Communion is still observed?
