Churches worth seeing, V

Christ Church : Springfield, Mo.
(Diocese of West Missouri)
Christ Church, Springfield, Missouri, is a rare architectural treasure: an 1870 Carpenter Gothic wood nave and a 1927-28 Gothic Revival stone chancel and parish hall, all joined in an harmonious if unusual ensemble. Christ Church is the oldest surviving church building in Springfield, one of the few among surviving contemporaries in the Ozarks region to possess such a high degree of integrity (i.e. little changed from its original appearance), and it is included on the National Register of Historic Places.

The chancel.

The nave. Simple and beautiful.
